Anti-Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Treatment at East Fremantle Dental Centre

Do you keep your spouse awake at night with your snoring? Do you wake up feeling like you’re still exhausted? If you suffer from apnoea or have been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, we can provide you with the solutions you need.

At East Fremantle Dental Centre, we have several options available to address your issues. A referral to a sleep physician might be required to confirm your diagnosis. Once this is established, we work in close conjunction with your sleep physician to treat your sleep disorder. We’ll discuss your situation with you and make our best recommendations to you so that you can make an informed decision on how you would like to proceed.

What Is Sleep Apnoea?

Sleep apnoea occurs when your airways collapse, cutting off your flow of oxygen. The common symptoms include snoring, daytime tiredness, gasping for air and waking during the night. Many people are unaware that they have sleep apnoea, or are told they may have a problem from a partner who is unable to sleep because of the disturbance at night.

Sleep apnoea is associated with other high-risk health conditions such as high blood pressure heart attack, diabetes and stroke. If you suspect that you may have sleep apnoea, it’s important to see your doctor straightaway.

Custom-Made Oral Appliances

If you chose to have an oral appliance made, also called a mandibular advancement splint, we’ll take impressions of your upper and lower jaw to make a record of your bite. An oral appliance is created from these impressions. It’s designed to bring your lower jaw forward when you wear it, which opens up your airway more. We can adjust how far forward your jaw needs to shift depending on how much space needs to be created to reach the optimal position.

It’s comfortable to wear and won’t cause any disturbance to your sleep. Produced in a specialised local laboratory, you can feel assured that we use the highest quality materials to create your splint.

Your airway will stay open while you sleep with your splint in. You’ll be able to get the good night’s rest that you need, and your spouse will appreciate it, too. We’ll discuss how to maintain and clean your splint.
